Foam Sclerotherapy
For many years a mild detergent solution has been injected into veins to cause their collapse and closure. An increasingly popular method to close diseased veins is foam sclerotherapy. With this method the mild detergent solution is mixed with gas just before injection, creating foam. The foam displaces blood from the diseased vein, allowing the solution to more effectively collapse the vein wall. Nearly pain-free, foam sclerotherapy offers effective treatment for small and medium varicose veins as well as spider veins.
